Studio Utopia

Studio Utopia investigates human exploitation through testimonies of immigrants from Albania, Bulgaria, Romania in the brothels of Athens, Greece. They have been made to prostitute themselves for 15 Euros and then to move into, so-called studios. In Studio Utopia video a taxi driver describes the spread of such studios revealing that he also prostituted women from Russia. Such individuals were driven by poverty into these desperate circumstances by rough childhoods, dangerous family conditions, tricked by pimps into thinking they would have a better future, single motherhood, and other causes.

To ‘Studio Utopia’ είναι ένα project βίντεο και φωτογραφίας που επιχειρεί να προσεγγίσει το θέμα του trafficking, της εμπορίας και εκμετάλλευσης ανθρώπων μέσα από τις μαρτυρίες των ίδιων των γυναικών που καταφτάνουν από τις χώρες τους - Αλβανία, Βουλγαρία, Ρουμανία- στα μπουρδέλα του Μεταξουργείου. Εκεί εκδίδονται στην τιμή των 15 ευρώ και στη συνέχεια αναβαθμίζουν την εργασία τους, εκδιδόμενες στα Studio που έχουν εμφανιστεί τα τελευταία χρόνια στην Αθήνα αλλά και στην περιφέρεια. Θέματα εκμετάλλευσης, επιλογής, στερεότυπων διαπλέκονται μέσα στο δίχτυ των ιστοριών του studio utopia.
